Career highlights: Moriarty won the New York State peewee division title as a member of the Long Island Gulls in 2000, after which he traveled with the team to the nationals in Alaska. That same year he made the All-Star team of the Golden Stick Tournament. Moriarty played in the 2001 AJHL All-Star Game and scored the overtime game-winner in the title game of the 2001 Golden Stick Tournament. He also made the 2002 MJHL All-Star team that played against the U.S. U-18 team in Alaska. Last year, Moriarty totaled 43 points (14 goals, 27 assists) for the AJHL runner-up Bobcats.
