Favorite hockey player: Toronto Maple Leafs′ defenseman Bryan McCabe because "I′ve been watching him for awhile and then he started skating with us [during Bobcats practices], so it′s just cool having him there," and the Edmonton Oilers defenseman Chris Pronger because "he is a solid defenseman."

The most important thing I′ve learned in hockey is: "to keep doing something until you get it right."

Most influential person in my hockey career is: his mom, Lisa Maksymkow.

Career highlights: Hubbard participated in the Junior B Nationals during both the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons as a member of the Suffolk PAL team. He also played in Long Island′s Top 40 game at The Rinx during the 2002-03 season and advanced to the Atlantic Junior Hockey League finals with the Bobcats last season.

Ultimate goal: to play collegiate hockey at the Division I level.

College interests: Trinity College (Conn.), Hockey East schools

From his coach: "First of all, when he′s on the ice you feel very comfortable. He brings confidence to the team when he′s on the ice," Nikiforov said of Hubbard. "He has a great personality and tremendous skills, both offensively and defensively. He′s very physical. If you direct him right, this kid has a lot of potential to play Division I [college hockey]."

From his teammate: "Casey′s a really big part of our team," said fellow defenseman Justin Porpora. "He′s really the strongest kid on our team. He′s got experience, age and a lot of skills, so he helps out our team a lot. He′s a really tough kid"
